Chapter 4: Those Who Know God's Will
Finally, although all the methods are correct, it does not necessarily mean that everyone can know God’s will. Please remember, even if the methods are correct, the person must be right as well for it to be effective. If the person is not right, even if the methods are entirely correct, it will be of no use. The most useless thing is when someone is in a state of rebellion before God, but still seeks to know God’s will. To know God's will, a person must have the desire deep within their heart that says, “Lord, I want to follow Your will!”
The story in Deuteronomy 15:17 about the servant whose ear was pierced at the door shows us that if you want to serve God, your ears must always listen to His word. You should come before the Lord and say, "I am willing to have my ear pierced at the door to listen to Your word. I want to serve You, I am willing to follow Your will. I desire in my heart to be Your servant. Let me hear Your words, let me know Your will." You need to come before the Lord, asking to listen as if your ear were nailed to the door, waiting for His command and His instructions.
Many times we feel uneasy because some people, although they seek to know God’s will, have no intention of following it. They simply want to treat the methods of seeking God’s will as a form of knowledge. They have their own agenda and only want God to be their advisor, offering God’s will as a reference. But brothers and sisters, God's will is only revealed to those who are determined to obey it! “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” (John 7:17). Therefore, to know God's will, you must make a firm decision to follow His will. If you have a passionate heart and a complete desire to follow God’s will, even if you don’t know the methods, God will make it known to you.
The Bible says, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9). In the original text, it should be translated: “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are completely toward Him.” This means that God’s eyes are moving to and fro, examining the earth. He looks once and then again to see if anyone is seeking His heart. Whoever’s heart is completely devoted to Him, He will reveal Himself to them. So, if your heart is completely towards the Lord, and you say, "Lord, I want to, I truly want to," God will reveal His will to you. God will not only allow you to know it, but He will make it clear to you.
We should not think that only those who have been Christians for many years can understand God’s will. We hope that all believers, from the very first day of their salvation, will place everything before God to understand His will.
Let us never think that knowing God’s will is a small thing. We must understand that in God’s eyes, we are but insignificant creatures. For us, such small and broken people, to actually know God’s will is an incredible privilege! For such fallen beings as ourselves to know God's will is truly an extraordinary matter! I hope that brothers and sisters will clearly understand that knowing God’s will is a glorious thing. God humbled Himself to make His will known to us. Therefore, we must learn to understand God’s will, bow in worship, cherish His will, and obey His will.
